Hi, there.

I’m Emily Jean, a photographer—and overall creative—based in Charlottesville, Virginia. I have been taking portraits since 2011 and photographing weddings since 2015, as well as creating imagery and content for brands and small businesses for the better part of a decade.

I have always been passionate about expanding what I see, both literally and fugratively, and making it into something tangible. It’s why I tell stories though songwriting and poetry, it’s why I love decorating (and then redecorating) my home, and it’s why I picked up a camera so long ago and never put it down. Well, that and the fact that my Dad always had a camera within reach, and my constant cheerleader of a childhood best friend asking, “Will you take my engagement photos? I’m sure you could do it!”

I’m personally heavily effected by nostalgia and giving a memory as much life as I possibly can, and I hope to help do that for those I photograph. The passage of time has always stressed me out, so I like to stop it every now in then in the only way I can.
